Partner Practice of St. James's Place Wealth Management

Tom Barbour, Partnership Development Manager

I studied Economics in Edinburgh whilst running a Business Portfolio at RBS before my move to St. James’s Place Wealth Management in 2006, originally as an Practice Manager running a small successful team of paraplanners. After 4 years I joined Adam & Company Private Bank, specialising in delivering complex Pension and Inheritance Tax advice for 4 years before finally returning again to St. James’s Place in 2014. I am proud to work with Greg, supporting him in providing the best possible client experience whilst aiming to meet client’s financial needs and objectives.

Client interests and their needs remains at the heart of everything I do with St. James’s Place, supporting successful businesses they can trust.

I continue to live in the south of Edinburgh with my wife Julie, where I originally grew up. When not in the office I can usually be found playing golf at my club in St. Andrews with friends or seeking out new dining experiences in and around Edinburgh with my wonderful wife.

Richard Leeson, Wealth Management Consultant

Richard Leeson is part of the Partner Consultancy team, specialising in estate planning and private wealth investments. He has over 35 years’ professional experience, working within major life offices, as an expert witness, and now as a Wealth Management Consultant with St. James’s Place.

His role means that he works closely with our Investment Managers and Investment Committee as well as the St. James’s Place Partnership and their clients, enabling him to provide a holistic assistance to wealth management issues.

Richard is DipPFS qualified and is currently working towards Chartered status.

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

Alan Shand, Chartered Financial Planner

Alan currently provides paraplanning and complex case support to the Practice. He has a wide knowledge of all financial products but specialises in pensions and retirement planning. Alan has worked in Financial Services for over 10 years in a variety of roles and has earned Chartered Financial Planner status as awarded by the Professional Finance Society.

Peter Cooley, Senior Manager, Business Development

Peter worked at Close Brothers Asset Management for nearly 20 years in many different roles including Advising Private Clients through to Regional Manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland. His final post was as Managing Director for Close’s Employer Solutions division which provided pension and investment advice to some of the UK’s largest companies including Shell, SSE and INEOS as well as working with the majority of the Police forces throughout the Country.

“I am delighted to help with Greg and his team advising on business strategy and client acquisition whilst ensuring that a strong client servicing ethos is central to the continuing success of the business."
